Can’t skip Republic Day event, hold parade: HC to Telangana

Celebrating Republic Day in a befitting manner is the bounden duty of all constitutional authorities and it cannot be skipped by the state government, the Telangana high court said on Wednesday while directing the state administration to hold the ceremonial parade at any place of its choice. “It need not necessarily be Parade Ground. You can conduct it at any other ground, but there should be a ceremonial parade,” Justice P Madhavi Devi said while issuing notice to the state and the Centre. Substance abuse on the rise among school children

HYDERABAD: Substance abuse among school-going children is on the rise, with the issue especially acute among students of Class 8 and above, say experts. In one such instance, a 12-year-old student was recently caught consuming balm at a government school in the city. The student’s mother expressed concern over her inability to stop him, as he also cuts his wrists.
